Randy is a combat veteran with 20 years of decorated service in the United States Army, 18 of those years as a Military Working Dog Handler, Trainer, Kennel Master and Instructor. Randy enlisted in the United States Army in 2000. While serving as a Military Police officer at his first duty station he found his true passion as an MP (Military Police) K-9 handler. Upon completion of the basic K9 handler’s course in 2001, he was stationed at multiple duty stations as a narcotics detection and explosive detection handler. Also, during this time, he deployed to the Port of El Paso in support of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol assisting in narcotics sweeps of vehicles entering the country. In 2004, Randy was offered a chance to assess for the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) as a K9 handler. He successfully passed this rigorous selection process and immediately made the move to Ft. Bragg, NC, where he would spend the next 6 years as a USASOC K-9 handler. In 2010 he moved to JBSA-Lackland and served as the Operations NCOIC of the Army detachment at the Military Working Dog School. For the next decade Randy served in various leadership roles throughout the Army MWD program. Since 2020 Randy has consulted various K9 organizations developing and improving their programs.
